We intend to present a letter to President Benigno Aquino III at the Embassy of the Philippines in Bangkok, pushing for an expedited process in bringing those responsible for the Ampatuan Massacre to justice.
During the worst single violent incident for journalists in recent history, 58 people including 32 media workers were killed on this day in 2009, but the case has yet to be resolved.
In the Philippines, 123 journalists have been killed in work-related cases since 1986, and only 10 of these have been successfully prosecuted.
We encourage you to join us in calling for justice for slain journalists not only in the Philippines but in solidarity with media workers around the globe.
Meet us at 1:45 outside the Embassy of the Philippines, located on Sukhumvit soi 30, between Phrom Pong and Thong Lor BTS stations, and help us call for an end to impunity and a safe work environment for journalists worldwide.
