Greetings from SEAPA in Bangkok! We are looking forward to seeing you at the Regional Conference on Media and Internet Freedoms 2014 in Kuala Lumpur this 15-17 October.

Kindly find below some information regarding your travel to and stay in Kuala Lumpur.

1. Accommodation/Meeting Venue

Accommodation has been arranged at:

The rooms are booked by SEAPA and registered under your names, unless otherwise specified or requested. While SEAPA shoulders the cost for accommodation, additional costs like telephone, additional beds and expenses for family (extra breakfast buffet) mini-bar and laundry will be at your own expense.

The meeting venue is Room 5 on the 6th floor. Direction signboards will be made available at the hotel. The organisers will be on hand to direct you to the meeting rooms.

2. Airport transfer in Kuala Lumpur

Unless otherwise stated, kindly find your way to the hotel.

Upon arrival, you may use

    • airport taxi [coupons can be purchased at Airport Limo counter at the international arrival hall (just after Customs, before public arrival area) of Main Terminal Building] or

    • metered taxi (at Level 1 and 3 of Main Terminal Building where a RM2 coupon will have to be purchased prior to boarding the taxi)

  • ERL train service that runs to the KL Sentral station.

From the KL Sentral station, you can either alight the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service outside the arrival hall of the KL Sentral station (please refer to the table below) or board on any metered taxi (if arrival after last shuttle pick up at 20:15).

3. Dinner

Breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments are included during your stay at the hotel. Dinner for all guests/participants is arranged for 15 October 2014 at Hugo’s on 6, 6th floor of the hotel.

4. Communication

Free Wi-fi service is available at the hotel. Ask the password upon your check-in!

Please note that SEAPA will NOT reimburse you for your SIM and top-up cost if you choose to get them during your stay in Kuala Lumpur.

5. Currency exchange

At the moment, the rate is USD 1 = Malaysian Ringgit 3.2. You can change money at the airport to ensure that you have some Ringgit in hand for taxi (and snacks or light meals if needed). Money exchange facilities and ATM machines are available near the baggage collection area at the airport and at the arrival hall.

6. Reimbursements and allowances

For participants supported by SEAPA, kindly provide the organisers with the following:

          • Original receipt for visa

          • Original receipt for airport tax and terminal fee (also for those supported by APC)

          • Original receipt for the flight ticket where the organiser has agreed to reimburse you

          • Original receipt for local transportation if you do not live in the departure city

Reimbursable items Amount Remarks
Airport transfer in departure city (to and fro airport) USD30 Kindly inform the organisers if you live in another city from your flight departure city and notify them of the local transportation costs. We will reimburse you the actual costs based on original receipts.
Airport transfer in Kuala Lumpur (to and fro airport) USD40 Airport train to Sentral costs USD11 one way, while a budget taxi could cost USD20-USD25. Where airport transfer is arranged by the organiser, reimbursements will be deducted.
Meal allowances USD13 for lunch and USD17 for dinner Lunch and breakfast are included in the meeting/room package. Meal allowance given where participant has to pay for their meals (including long overlays during travel)
Incidentals Fixed USD10 per day for duration of conference and travel days related to the conference

Reimbursements will be made in US Dollars.

7. Power plug

Malaysia uses the following plug (Type C or Type G) so don’t forget to bring your adapters! Check here for references.

8. Restaurants and other nearby attractions

The hotel is located on Jalan Tun Sambathan, a central location surrounded by restaurants and tourist attractions.

For dining as well as shopping for souvenirs, you can check out Brickfields (more commonly known as Little India, ), Central Market (Pasar Seni) and China Town which are within walking distance from the hotel, or you can take a taxi from the hotel.

For shopping and dining, you can take the hotel shuttle to KL Sentral (Nu Sentral Mall), MidValley (Mid Valley Shopping Mall) or KLCC.
